Left in Kanto- Right on Kansai
In Japan, when you are on escalator left is for stand and right is for move. If you stand on right, people will give you the dirty looks. (haha JP people will not tell you, quiet types).
BUT
That is only if you are on east side of Japan (kanto - 関東). If you are on west side of Japan (kansai - 関西), right is stand and left is move. AND western JP people are relative talkative and will tell you to get out of their ways.
Where is the line, where right n left switch?? Who knows.
